Health and fitness apps growing at record rate

Technology is changing the world of fitness as we once knew it. In the past six months, the usage of health and fitness apps has increased by 62%. Recent data from Flurry Insights shows that apps in this sector have grown more than 87% faster than any other app category.

Much of this growth can be attributed to the increase in wearable fitness technology and buzz around Apple’s potential launch of the iWatch. These numbers are expected to continue to grow as more companies continue to explore the world of health technologies.

According to Mashable, the data from Flurry also found that women are more interested in tracking their health than men and that the data skews to the 35 to 54 age group.
